My family was a ranch family, coming to the Owens Valley in the 1880′s. My grandfather, Charles Partridge, was an Inyo Supervisor for 17 years in the 1920′s and 30′s. He negotiated with all the big names- Mulholland, Van Norman, etc. to try to save this valley and the ranchers. The valley subsequently fell into a local economic depression. He and others such as Father Crowley then worked to build up the tourist economy. These men worked extremely hard, building trails, getting the highway paved from Los Angeles, and putting in other aspects of the infrastructure. If you support this solar farm, you are undermining the tourist economy and the people who earn their living from this. I can’t understand why the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors are going against the will of their constituents and the people who trust them to represent their wishes. It is a betrayal.
